Worklog 072718

Wow, it’s really easy to fall out of the habit of writing. I just realized I hadn’t posted a worklog in a month!

As a baseline, I’m going to start adopting the traditional scrum structure for these (and maybe sprinkle in other stuff as necessary).

What I’ve done

Yesterday, I worked on documentation. Now that I have a whole new environment set up, I’m going back to document it so we have pain-free onboarding for future employees and the other engineers can easily see how it all fits together.

I also paired with our architect to make sure some Docker changes work on OS X — he’s had to make some changes to ensure my React environment can place nice with the legacy environment. It works, and we’re still even able to use Hot Module Replacement by using Parcel’s hmr-port flag.

What I’m working on

I’m finishing up documentation today, and I’m also going to finish watching this workshop from Kent C. Dodds on JavaScript testing. If I have time, I’m also going to check out Cypress, because I keep hearing about it. Anyone used it?Why do people love it so much? Does it make E2E testing faster to get up and going?

Not sure if Blockers even needs to be in these posts, but I don’t have any FWIW. ????
